For the award winning project, PA Home Builders Chase Building Group teamed with Scott Larkin of Brawer & Hauptman Architects to transform Mr. Larkin’s 100-year-old South Philadelphia row home into a minimalist family residence with the concept being ‘Clean Industrial’.
Chase Building Group was given the task of incorporating industrial touches throughout the home while utilizing some of the historical building materials that were used for the original construction. Prior to the renovation, the Larkin residence was lacking natural light, a connection with its outdoor space and the property had a first floor layout that separated the kitchen from the main living space. To bring the outdoors into the home and to fill the space with natural light, Chase Building Group added a glass panel garage door to a wall in the dining room, allowing the homeowners to access their small backyard and enjoy the outdoors in warm temperatures while dining. The overall layout of the entire three story house was redesigned, bringing the kitchen into the main living space and adding luxurious amenities throughout the home. By incorporating details like custom concrete countertops in the kitchen and exposing and refinishing existing building materials throughout the renovated areas, Chase was able to create a design that was unique, functional and that achieved the minimalist industrial feel the homeowners had envisioned.
The Larkin family was ecstatic with the finished project offering:
Chase Building Group was able to make our dreams a reality. The renovations look amazing and have truly exceeded our expectations.
